Banila Co. Review | #banilacosg

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another blogpost, a few weeks back, I was invited to the launch of Banila Co. at Watsons in Ngee Ann City. Banila Co has been around in Korea for a long time and I'm sure most of you would have heard about their cleansing balm! I personally have but I've not tried it myself, so I was very blessed that they've given me some products to test out! I was told on tub of these balms sell almost every 3 seconds and honestly, that is pretty darn amazing.

I've been using a water based cleanser for years, mostly its because it's what has been working for me and I used to have eyelash extensions, so balm and oil cleansers were an absolute no-go for me. However, I haven't done extensions for the whole of 2020, so it's really the perfect time to try out their balm cleanser!

During the event, they very generously gifted me a Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm set (macaron edition), a full sized Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm (Unicorn Edition) and a mini Dear Hydration kit. First impressions, I really love packaging like these, and the fact that there was a Unicorn Edition for the cleansing balm - I was sold immediately.

Let's start by talking about the Macaron Set. I love these, they're really cute and they're perfect for travelling or bringing to shoots and I can clean my make up off really easily! There are 4 types: Original, Purifying, Revitalizing and Nourishing.

Just some comparisons of the ingredients (taken from banilaco.sg):

Original (for all skin types) – has Vitamin C, Acerola and Papaya extracts that brighten and smoothen the skin.

Purifying (for sensitive skin) – has 7 natural herbs that calms and soothes irritated skin and allergy-free fragrance that is safe for use even by those with extremely sensitive skin

Revitalizing (for oily skin) – brightens, evens out the skin tone and keeps the skin firm with its Resveratrol, Grape Seed and Olive Oil ingredients

Nourishing (for dry skin) – contains Premium ingredients such as Ginseng Berry and Royal Jelly that moisturise and nourish the skin

I personally think all of them work very well, I have combination skin (an oily T-Zone but a dry C-Zone), I thought I would enjoy the revitaliszing one a lot more than the rest because of its potential brightening properties, but I didn't see too much of that going on - but then again, I've tried rotated between the 4 of them 3 times before writing this review. So personally, I didn't really notice much of a difference between the 4 options, but perhaps in the long run and a lot more usage, the differences might be more apparent. I did notice that the Purifying one did take a little longer to cleanse my make up off, but not to the extent of it being troublesome!

They don't particularly differ in terms of scent - they all possess that slightly sweet and light fruity scent that isn't sickly. I find the scent quite refreshing as well so that's a definite plus!

Up next, we have the Original Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm (Unicorn Edition).

I didn't actually realise this was a special edition until a few days ago when I read up more about the products on their website. I actually just thought that all the original sized cleansing balms had a slightly different look to them and had that cool holographic and colour gradient packaging. of course, you guys know I do love all things magical so this is right up my alley!

This was the very first item that I tried from them (as you would have seen if you watched my IGTV episode) and I was very happy with the results! It did need some getting used to for me because I was always very used to just slapping on some cleanser onto a cotton pad and wiping my make up off and double cleansing afterwards. I was told at the event that you don't need to double cleanse I was personally doubting it, because I've been diligently double cleansing for years, so you can imagine how happy I was when I found that I really didn't require a double cleanse. I just put my skincare on straight away after using the balm and so far my skin has been great!

Scent wise, it is also pleasant, light and fruity. And this balm includes 7 ingredients that calm the skin: Centella, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Asian Knotweed Extract, Chinese Liquorice Extract, Green Tea Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Chamomile Extract.

These are similar to the purifying edition on the site. I'm not going to go into full detail about the differences, but if I were to repurchase again, I would personally go for either the Original or the Purifying one. The one that I haven't been able to try was the Pore Cleansing one, which I am very curious about, so perhaps that's next on my list! Being on set a lot also means I will have a lot of clogged pores, so I think that may be exciting to try since I'm working on a drama right now, which means I will be on set for long hours, and my skin will be suffering under my mask a lot more often!

Last but not least, this mini Dear Hydration kit! I love a good set of hydrating skincare products and this is no exception! They definitely absorb well into the skin, have a fresh scent to them and they do not leave a sticky residue. I enjoy using these in the day because my skin doesn't turn oily later in the day and these do not clog up my pores.
